Long time, no post.....

Well, its been forever and a day since I last wrote on this blog. Just busy with life I guess. We are now in a new year (2009) and since my last entry a few things have changed and a few have remained the same.

One of the big changes is the current economy and my personal battle with keeping control of our bills. My hubby (before we were married) assigned the bank balance and bill paying duties to me. This was a task I was happy to deal with since he had a slight history of overdrafting his account and I am EXTREMELY conscious of my funds at all times. I may not have a great deal in savings at any one time, but I know how to pinch pennies when needed and avoid the dreaded "overdraft" and "late" fees when you let little financial drama overtake your checkbook. However, with my change of employment in late 2007 from Full-time to self-employed AND the recent havoc in the economy playing havoc with any new contracts coming in..... well lets just say the bills bit me in the BUTT! Somehow over the last several months we got into a cycle of being late on a few VERY important bills.... the house, the automobiles, a few of the utilities. UGH! This is a stressed out disaster in my book. Now there have been times when I have paid upto the last minute prior to being "late" or "cut-off", but not in a very LONG time have I had this much trouble chasing the bills! I know there are alot of people out there who can empathize with where we have been. It SUCKS!!! I compare being behind on your bills to trying to bring your GPA up in college after a miserable grade or trying to loose weight! ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE! BUT.....with some creative thinking and a few very difficult sacrifices we (the hubby AND I) came up with a plan that we could live with. And now we can breathe again. We are not completely back in the black...but will be by the end of the month. YEA!! And now that never-ending knot in my stomach is starting to relax.

One of the things that remains the same...... my battle with both my health and my weight. In 2008, I found out that I have a "fatty liver" and a "slow thyroid". This coupled with the PCOS that I was diagnosed with back in 2002 and the ongoing issues with my stomach, well lets just say that loosing the weight I need to get healthier is a constant struggle. Now that the bills are getting to a place where we WILL have an excess of funds monthly, I am looking at a few aids to help. I have considered NutriSystem for a while now, and while a little costly it might be what I need to get my body started. We also have a local gym just minutes from our house that we are considering joining. The only thing with the gym is that we have a pretty good workout system that my parents "handed down" after we moved into our house. We moved it out of our garage though shortly after we got it for my FILs rehab of his knee and shoulder after surgery AND also because it takes up a LOT of room and we wouldn't be able to get the car and the truck in the garage if it was there. Well with the kids now having an air hockey table and a foosball table taking almost 1/2 of the garage.... well know there isn't an excuse. The only thing we would need to make our own "gym" would either be a treadmill or an elliptical. So do we spend the money for the town gym where there is alot more equipment to choose from???? Or do we buy the treadmill or elliptical and just do our routine at home in the garage????? Decisions, decisions.

So anyway, those are a few things going on with us. Until next time........
